Treatment of Phobias

Hypnotherapy for Phobias

A phobia is an intense or irrational fear of an object, person, animal, place or situation, to a degree that interferes with normal life.

A phobia can lead the sufferer to avoid situations in which they will be anxious, this can often restrict peoples lives. About 1 in every 10 people will have troublesome anxiety or phobias at some point in their lives, however, few will seek professional help.

The list is endless, but here are just a few examples of phobias that have been successfully treated with Hypnotherapy:

Dentist - Doctor - Hospitals - Spiders - Snakes - Birds - Cats - Fish - Feathers - Public Transport - Driving - Flying - Agoraphobia - Public Speaking - Exams - Water - Mobile Phones

How Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy helps to treat phobias:

• Using trance to access the subconscious, which is the source of the phobia, and re-aligning the thought processes, replacing anxiety with a more positive emotion i.e. confidence / calm
• Desensitising the client to the stimulus i.e. spiders, flying
• Uncovering the source of the phobia - this is only generally necessary for very deep rooted phobias
• Using hypnosis and self hypnosis techniques to increase confidence levels, this automatically counteracts feelings of anxiety
• Learning a new, more relaxed habit and helping the client to become more calm in situations where they are likely to encounter the stimulus.
